The storms have been raging this week and the fact that we have been learning about tornados and floods has only heightened my 1st graders' fears when they hear the thunder.
In middle of a transition, one of them came up to me. "Ms. Wong, can I have a hug?" Hugs, to my great joy, are much more common and freely given in 1st grade than they were in 5th. I didn't think much of it and gave her one. Then she looked at me and said, "The storms are scaring me."
Sometimes I forget how young and precious they are.
