Raining Worms?

I asked them to share a sentence about worms. One raised his hand, insistent on sharing his sentence with the class.

"Sometimes when it rains, worms fall from the sky."

His world seemed to fall apart when I told him about the actual living situation of worms. Could he really have believed that to be true? I wonder if he ever fought gross-out inner-turmoil when he had to walk outside in the rain...

The insides of kids' minds are so fascinating.
