Today I was able to gather my kids around me, look at the history of America and say, "It doesn't matter who tells you you can't. It doesn't matter what odds are against you. It doesn't matter how impossible your dreams feel like they are to achieve. If you work hard, you can achieve anything." And, for once, it looked like some of them actually believed me.
Obama's election to presidency is not the Ultimate Hope, but it is a tangible example which the kids can look to for inspiration to dream big dreams for themselves and strive for those dreams to become their reality.
