"They interviewed me, Ms. Wong!" my fourth grader proudly exclaimed (without raising his hand) as we ended our day. We were just visited by CEO's of charter schools across the nation.
"What did they ask you, Jack?"
"They asked me if I like this school, and I said yes because we learn a lot and we're going to college!"
I smiled at his twinkling eyes and glanced down at the index card we had taped to his desk earlier in the day. He needed motivation to work so, together we had written, "Jack's going to college" and taped it to his desk to remind him of why he needed to work hard.
Yes, Jack is going to college, indeed.
