"For I desire mercy, not sacrifice." Hosea 6:6
Mercy is defined as compassion or kindness. God desires to see compassion, not sacrifice.
This year I have sacrificed my time and energy and as much of my being as I knew how to give for my students. I've given up friendships and family and even my relationship with God so that I can give my all to my students. But I have done all this without love. I haven't been teaching just because I want my kids to succeed. I've been teaching because I want my kids to succeed BECAUSE I want to be deemed worthy as a teacher and as a person.
Father, help my heart. Purify my motivations.
