I held a crayon in my hand. "In the past hour, 2 students have given me something that was thrown at them. I need to know who it is."
The class was silent. They stared at me and I back at them. I didn't think they would do it. As I was just about to say, "Whoever you are, see me after class..." Frank raised his hand. "Yes, Frank?"
"I did it, Ms. Wong. I threw that crayon at Jack."
Then another hand went up. "Eric?"
"I threw something at Jeremy earlier."
I stared at my boys, about to cry. I was so moved by their brave honesty. In front of their entire class, they admitted their mistake with no idea what the consequences would be. I admire them so much. THEY are teaching me so much.
